Burlyn started taking riding lessons at the age of 3 years old. Her first competition was at the age of 5
and her passion has just continued growing through the years. Burlyn has competed in both all-round and
reining events with a lot of success and is excited about the opportunity to compete in the YWC as a member of team South Africa. “I am looking forward to the overall experience of traveling and representing my country, and I'm really excited about meeting new people.”

Wynand Bezuidenhout
Rider

Age: 16
Wynand started riding competitively in the western events at the age of 10. Wynand has shown in multiple in-hand and ridden disciplines with various breeds including Quarter horses, Arabians and Appaloosas. He is excited to have been given the ultimate learning experience with leading professionals and to be meeting new friends. “I’m looking forward to some of the classes we are going to compete in,
namely the Hunter and Cutting classes. I am looking forward to the overall experience.”

Minki Venter
Rider

Age: 13
Minki started riding Show Jumping at the age of 6 and then started riding Quarter horses at the age of 9. MInki has successfully shown in multiple divisions such as the All-round and Reining with her Quarter horses. Minki has also shown miniatures in hand as well as in the open cart performance classes.
“ Western riding is my ultimate future. I’m looking forward to meeting some of my heroes and furthering my riding with the knowledge I will receive at the Youth World Cup.”

Dylan Busschau
Rider

Age: 14
Hometown: Mpumalanga
Dylan fell in love with Horses at the age of 2 and a half. At 3 he got his first horse, a Quarter horse mare named Fire and she is still in his life. Dylan learned a lot from watching other kids during their lessons when he was younger and started riding competitively in 2018. He has done very well in the show ring
since then. He is also busy bringing on 2 young horses of his own and wants to improve his horsemanship skills. Dylan is excited to be meeting like-minded people from around the World and to learn from some of the best in the industry. He aims to always be a horseman before you are a rider.
“I’m looking forward to competing, meeting real horsemen, and riding well-bred quarter horses.”

Carli Roux
Rider

Age: 18
Hometown: Gauteng
Carli started riding at the age of 5 and started riding competitively at the age of 7. She started off with Showing and Dressage but soon focused mainly on Dressage having had a lot of success in the discipline. At the age of 13 she began to explore the western classes at a school level and is excited to learn more about the sport and improve her riding skill. “I’m really excited to participate and I have always wanted
to visit America. I’m sure I am going to learn a lot on this trip about not only horses but life.” She also said how she wanted to have fun and learn as much as possible through this amazing experience.
